Lunch Break Wonders II

After walking past it a million times, today I finally went inside Bristol Cathedral. It didn’t disappoint!

As I entered, camera in hand, an official looking lady approached me and my heart sank at the prospect of being informed that photography was not allowed. I was already wide-eyed at the high ceilings and stained glass windows and couldn’t wait to get snapping. Luckily, she was not there to bring me bad news, but rather to welcome me to the Cathedral and impart her knowledge of the building’s history.

Sadly, as my lunch break minutes were ticking by, I had to excuse myself rather quickly, but not before the lovely lady could inform me that this is the church of the people and all are welcome.

I took my photos in grainy black and white to try and capture the dramatically imposing nature of the building, its shapes and shadows and the streams of light falling from the arched windows. I feel like I barely touched upon what Bristol Cathedral has to offer and I will definitely be heading back there in the future. Please take a moment to browse the photos below:

  1. This shows the camera’s ability to capture the cathedral’s magnificent beauty from a variety of different angles. I can’t wait for your next visit.
